Carro Voador

Talking about flying cars is nothing new but making it really happen is a different story. Many earlier attempts to do so have failed but with new regulations and perspectives on personal flying Dutch amateur pilot John Bakker seems to make a good chance with the Personal Air and Land Vehicle
"The PAL-V ONE is a hybrid of a car a motorbike and a gyrocopter: a personal air and land vehicle. A solution to increasing congestion in our cities, highways and skyways. On the ground, the slim line, aerodynamic 3-wheel vehicle is as comfortable as a luxury car but has the agility of a motorbike, thanks to its patented cutting-edge 'tilting' system. The single rotor and propeller are folded away until the PAL-V ONE is ready to fly."
The PAL-V Europe company is currently raising the capital to get the first flying car on the road, or better in the sky within four years time. For us locals, this might be the end of ghost ship stories with John Bakker as the new Flying Dutchman

Feast your eyes on the greatest pizza ever created! Forget cheese being the only ingredient in a stuffed-crust pizza, Pizza Hut’s new Double Roll sticks hot dog sausages in there too. It’s also lovingly sprinkled with hamburger pieces for the full fast food meat experience. The medium size costs 2500 yen (£10/$20.50) while the large will set you back 3550 yen (£14/$29).

USB Refrigerator

One day, my entire home will be powered via USB. I won’t need to leave my desk to do anything either. I’ll be able to work, cook, wash and shave from the luxury of my chair. I’ll even have a USB bed under my desk for when I get tired. Not sure what the USB part is needed for though, maybe to heat it like an electric blanket. Today, I’m one step closer to my dream with the release of the USB refrigerator. With the astonishing ability to store and cool a 350ml can, for 3,980 Yen (£16/$32) you’ll never have to trek to the kitchen again. Still waiting for the USB toilet.

Chime TV

Richard Wilson in Liverpool

This post is for my new friend Anna from Liverpool!
"turning the place over' by richard wilson consists of a rotating wall
that turns 360º. cut in the wall of an old wine lodge in liverpool, UK
the installation sits opposite one of the city's train stations. the artist
sliced an 'egg-shaped section' out of the building's facade – 'fixing the
eight metre diameter piece on a pivot' so it can spin."

Seu nomezinho no pão

Your Name on Toast will literally write your name on toast and put it up on their site in exchange for a charity donation to Save the Children, World Vision, or Oxfam. Larger donations are pushed toward the top, but all toasts are displayed on the homepage. Our one bone to pick is that they use a sharpie to write on the toast!! The humanity! There has been plenty of toast-printing buzz around town for them to make a change, which they do mention is possible in the "How it Works" section...

Micro Compact Home

This "Micro-Compact Home" was inspired by the compact spaces in first-class airplane cabins, and the classic scale and order of a Japanese tea house. They are lightweight, transportable, and cost 50,000 Euros. They are an interesting, if extreme, exercise in making efficient use of indoor space. The tiny cube provides a double bed on an upper level and working table and dining space for four or five people on a lower level.
The kitchen bar is accordingly arranged to serve these two levels. The entrance lobby has triple use and functions as a bathroom and drying space for clothing. Storage is provided off each of these four functioning spaces.
They will be installed in a "village" on campus at the Technical University of Munich, were they were designed.
